The base is plain as oppose to the highly decorated lid of floral scroll motif. It is made by local chinese silver smith for the Chinese people of Makassar.

Bugis Style glass holder Makassar 1920's

These silver glass holders are made by the local craft man for the Bugis people of Makassar. The bottom part has more depth and more decorated than the Chinese ones. The geometric pattern and the shape of the larger piece reflects the ethnicity of the Bugis people. 99.6g Dimension 8.5 by 12 cm

A set of three silver glass holder Makassar 1920's

The slightly bigger identical pair of glass holder on the top left image is finely chiseled and chased with the eight immortals and their attributes. The smaller piece does not include figurines but all three has a Chinese hall mark. The knob on the lids are two pomegranates.

Incised floral scroll on plain silver Java 1950's
