Nepali Whiskey
At a tourist hub in Galle, Sri Lanka, I saw words like Room rats on a file at the reception desk of a Hotel which also served tomato milkshake. There were just so many similar spelling mistakes that someone actually has written a book about it.
Nepal have many locally brewed spirits. While traveling on a bus to Chitwan National Park, I saw countless billboards with advertising like Gill Marry whiskey which is a whiskey brand called Gill Mary. Russian vodka has been labeled as Ruslan" vodka simply after their way of saying it.
As a regular visitor to Kathmandu, I have picked up a few Nepali words like 'Chaina' which simply means 'no'. This word is most popular among tourist for getting rid of touts. I have a good one for you. A nepali who was trying to sell his musical instrument to a tourist was of course getting a response like 'chaina'. Then the vendor said to him 'no sir, it is not made in China, it is made in Nepal.
